WHAT DOES THE MGO RATING ON MANUKA HONEY MEAN?

MGO stands for methylglyoxal, the naturally occurring compound responsible for the antibacterial properties that makes Manuka Honey so special.

Our Manuka honeys are tested to accurately establish the level of MGO in the honey. The higher the MGO number the more antiviral and antibacterial properties it contains.

WHAT IS CRYSTALLISATION?

Pure, raw and untreated honey can naturally crystallise and tastes just as good.

Honey contains glucose and fructose. The glucose in the honey separates into crystals causing the honey to crystallise, whilst the fructose in the honey remains liquid.

To reverse, simply place the honey jar in warm water and gently stir.

IS HONEY GLUTEN FREE?

Yes! Honey is gluten free.

IS PURE PENINSULA HONEY PASTURISED

No.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF HONEY?

Honey has no expiry date.

HOW DO BEES PRODUCE DIFFERENT FLAVOURS OF HONEY?

Bees gather nectar from a range of flora, which they subsequently turn into honey. Different plants flower at different times, which enables us to bottle the honey separately so we can enjoy the different varieties.

Weather conditions and the type of flowers influence the consistency, colour and taste of honey.

Please enjoy the variety that nature produces!
